Notes

'Portofino' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Portofino') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Late blooming double flowers open ruby-red and fade to ivory with age, and they have a subtle fragrance. The upright stems reach about 43 inches and need no support. Stephan Tetzlaff bred it.

Pairs well with Dog's tooth violet, Sensitive fern, and American cranberrybush.
