Notes

'Preble' peony (Paeonia 'Preble') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, cut flowers, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its single, fragrant flowers are light lavender-red, and bees and butterflies visit them. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. William Henry Krekler bred it.

Pairs well with Dittany, Nodding onion, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Yarrow.
