Notes

'Prize Gift' peony (Paeonia 'Prize Gift') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001, and its bright yellow, ruffled blooms with red touches in the center open in early to late spring. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Butterflies visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Lily, Endless Summer hydrangea, and Big bluestem.
