Notes

'Profusion' crabapple (Malus ×purpurea 'Profusion') is a tree for borders and specimen planting, and it needs little care. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil of most types. Violet-red flowers open in spring above bronze leaves, and they are fragrant. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the tree, and it is drought tolerant once settled.

Pairs well with Hawthorn, Weigela, Greig's tulip, and Royal fern.
