Pure Energy fountain grass

Notes

'Pure Energy' fountain grass (Cenchrus alopecuroides 'Pure Energy') is a grass for mass plantings, borders, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun. Its arching blades start golden to lime green and turn more golden in autumn. They settle to tan by late fall, so the clump adds winter interest. Feathery bottlebrush plumes appear in summer and age to near black.

Pairs well with Rose of sharon, Calendula, and Gladiolus.
