Notes

'Purple Prince' peony (Paeonia 'Purple Prince') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Dark purple blooms with black flares open in early to late spring and attract butterflies. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Blue flag, Niobe clematis, and Jane magnolia.
