Notes
'Purple Reign' peony (Paeonia 'Purple Reign') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, cut flowers, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Single magenta purple flowers have frilled edges, and the early leaves emerge burgundy before turning green. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms.
Pairs well with Sum and Substance hosta, Nodding onion, and Phantom panicle hydrangea.
