Notes
'Purple Smyrna' fig (Ficus carica 'Purple Smyrna') is a fruit tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full sun, so give it the hottest, sunniest spot you have. It is grown for fresh eating, drying, jams, and desserts. The fruit has strawberry-colored flesh with a rich, sweet flavor. You can prune it to a smaller size or grow it in a container or on an espalier.
Pairs well with Persimmon, Artichoke, and Society garlic.
