Notes
'Rauenthal' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Rauenthal') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large, flat flowers are soft violet-rose with a lilac tint and silvery white tips. They open in late midseason. Strong stems hold the upright plant steady.
Pairs well with Culver’s root, Black Hero tulip, Ostrich fern, and Blue sage.
