Notes
'Red Beauty' peony (Paeonia 'Red Beauty') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Edward Auten, Jr bred it in 1956, and its fragrant black-red blooms have narrow center petals edged in yellow. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Bees and butterflies visit the flowers.
Pairs well with Anise hyssop, Fringed bleeding heart, and Blue grama.
