Notes

'Red Imp' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Red Imp') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large, flat, deep-red flowers are semi-double, and a ring of stamens sits at the center. William Henry Krekler bred it in 1977.

Pairs well with Swamp milkweed, Sweet William, Sedge, and Grape hyacinth.
