Notes

'Red Jade' peony (Paeonia 'Red Jade') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. It bears large, flat, single crimson flowers with dark brown shading in early to late spring, and butterflies visit them. Saunders bred it in 1948. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Elegans hosta, Blue fescue, and Greig's tulip.
