Notes

'Red Riding Hood' peony (Paeonia 'Red Riding Hood') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The medium red blooms have slight yellow tinges and open in early to late spring. George Hollis bred it in 2001. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Jeana garden phlox, Green Spice coral bells, The President clematis, and Big bluestem.
