Notes

'Red Sauce' apple (Malus domestica 'Red Sauce') is a tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It blooms from early to late spring, and bees visit the flowers. It is not self-fertile, so plant a second apple nearby for pollination. Geneva Research Station in New York introduced it in 1910.

Pairs well with Sweet woodruff, Ox-eye daisy, and Bouquet peony.
