Notes

Resurrection lily (Lycoris squamigera) is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. The long, strap-like leaves appear in spring and go dormant by summer. Large, fragrant, light pink flowers then rise on tall bare stems, so plant it between other perennials to fill the gap.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Blue-eyed grass, and Gaura.

Native range

Southeast China, Korea, and and Japan.
