Notes

'Red Star' clematis (Clematis 'Red Star') is a vine for containers, cottage gardens, and specimen use. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. It climbs 6 to 9 feet tall and has red blooms with purple anthers. Takashi Watanabe bred it.

Pairs well with Limelight hydrangea, Paris coral bells, and Little bluestem.
