Notes

'Renato' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Renato') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Arthur L. Murawska bred it in 1949. The double red blooms open in mid to late spring and early summer. They make an excellent cut flower, and the flowers are fuller and larger than those of its parent Félix Crousse.

Pairs well with Purrsian Blue nepeta, Aromatic aster, and Spanish bluebell.
