rhododendron

Notes

Rhododendron (Rhododendron fortunei) is a shrub for woodland gardens, shade borders, and fragrant spring color. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade. Funnel-shaped lavender flowers open in early to late spring and smell sweet. Each truss holds 5-12 flowers. The leaves have purplish stems, and the shrub grows large over time, so give it plenty of room.

Pairs well with Lady fern, Cucumber tree, and Snowdrop.
