Notes

'Rising Sun' peony (Paeonia 'Rising Sun') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Bright yellow flowers with red flares open in early to late spring, and the petals ruffle toward the center. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Derek Irvine bred this peony, and butterflies visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Paris coral bells, Jacob’s ladder, Christmas fern, and Greig's tulip.
