Notes

'Rivida' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Rivida') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The single, bright violet-red flowers come with multiple buds. If you leave the seed pods on the plant to dry, they open flat and look like leather or carved wood. John Harrell bred it.

Pairs well with Wild geranium, Orange daylily, Blue sage, and Royal fern.
