Notes

'Royal Road' peony (Paeonia 'Royal Road') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Light purple flowers with a darker center and violet flares open in early to late spring and attract butterflies. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001.

Pairs well with Blue wild indigo, Lily, The President clematis, and Katsura tree.
