Notes

'Rubra' dogwood (Cornus Florida 'Rubra') is a tree for borders, specimen planting, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Pink to reddish pink bracts with yellowish-green centers draw butterflies, bees, and birds. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. Its branches have an ascending habit and grow at a moderate rate.

Pairs well with Oakleaf hydrangea, Autumn fern, Christmas fern, and Green and gold.
