Notes

Salmonberry (Rubus spectabilis) is a shrub for pollinator gardens, food gardens, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist soil. Rufous hummingbirds and native bees visit the early spring flowers, and the raspberry-like fruits ripen to red or yellow in summer. It forms thickets and can become aggressive, so give it room. Deer tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Jane magnolia, Fragrant Bouquet hosta, and Flowering quince.
