Notes
'San Diego' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'San Diego') is a perennial for borders, cut flower gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The Japanese type flowers are light red with golden salmon tints in the center. Some blooms have a small tuft in the middle, which makes them odd and distinct. Edward Auten, Jr bred it.
Pairs well with Great blue lobelia, Woolly yarrow, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
