Notes

'Sansa' apple (Malus domestica 'Sansa') is a tree for the food garden, grown for fresh eating. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Morioka Research Station bred it by crossing Gala and Akane. The fruit tastes like an early-ripening Gala, sweet with more acidity. Plant a second apple nearby, since this tree is not self-fertile and bees carry pollen between the spring flowers.

Pairs well with Chardonnay grape, Hummingbird's mint, and Autumn fern.
