Notes

'Santa Fe' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Santa Fe') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Dark red, semi-double blooms open in early summer and do not fade. The medium sized flowers sit on stiff stems, so they hold up well in a vase. Edward Auten, Jr bred it.

Pairs well with Siberian iris, Dalmatian bellflower, and Japanese spirea.
