Notes
'Schmred' Chinese dogwood (Cornus kousa 'Schmred') is a tree for borders, pollinator gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It grows slowly with an erect form. It blooms from early to late spring and attracts bees and birds.
Pairs well with Tulip tree, Quick Fire panicle hydrangea, and Queen of Night tulip.
