Notes

'Satomi' Chinese dogwood (Cornus kousa 'Satomi') is a tree for borders, specimen planting, and food gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average moisture. Pink bracts open in spring, and red, strawberry-like fruit that you can eat follows in fall. It sits low on the menu for deer. The leaves turn scarlet red in fall, and bees and birds visit the tree.

Pairs well with Serviceberry, Stargazer lily, and Garlic chives.
