Notes
'Senshumon' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Senshumon') is a shrub for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Chugai introduced it, and the name means Gate of Senshu. You can cut the blooms for bouquets and enjoy them indoors. Choose a permanent spot, because it grows as a woody shrub and stays in place for years.
Pairs well with Autumn Frost hosta, Korean spice viburnum, Cinnamon fern, and Carnaval De Nice tulip.
