Notes

'September' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'September') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The cupped yellow flowers are fragrant and have a basal blotch. It grows to about 6 feet tall. G. D. Bowne bred it as a sport of an unnamed tree peony.

Pairs well with Japanese barberry, Toad lily, and Stargazer lily.
