Notes
'Shimano-fuji' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Shimano-fuji') is a shrub for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It blooms in mid to late spring with giant, highly ruffled, semi-double lavender flowers. The color varies from bloom to bloom, and the stigmas are reddish purple.
Pairs well with Black Parrot tulip, Ostrich fern, and Tall fescue.
