Notes

'Shirley' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Shirley') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large double blooms are flesh-white with a splash of carmine in the center and a ring of yellow stamens. The stems are long and strong, so the flowers hold well in a vase. Ernest Flint Kelsey bred it.

Pairs well with Maltese cross, Blue sage, and Grape hyacinth.
