Notes

Short-leaf pine (Pinus echinata) is a tree for low maintenance, privacy screen, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It grows fast and stays evergreen, with bright green needles 3 to 5 inches long. Birds and small mammals eat its seeds and use it for cover and nesting. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Winterberry, Beautyberry, and Karl Foerster feather reed grass.
