Notes

'Sichuan Princess' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Sichuan Princess') is a shrub for borders and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun to part shade, average moisture, and loamy soil. Fragrant, semi-double flowers open light purple with red flares and blurred edges. They reach 8 inches across, with 1 or 2 blooms per stem. Irmtraud Rieck bred it, and it grows upright to about 5 feet.

Pairs well with Wild bergamot, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Black Parrot tulip.
