Notes
'Smoke Signal' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Smoke Signal') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The Japanese type blooms have deep rose petals with variegated centers. R.H. Jones bred it, and the rose-pink flowers make a good cut stem.
Pairs well with Abiqua Drinking Gourd hosta, Indian grass, and Japanese spirea.
