Notes

'Smoky Mountain' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Smoky Mountain') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Early mid-season blooms are smoky pink and single to semi-double, with dark maroon flares at the centers. The upright plant can reach six feet tall and seven feet wide, so give it room.

Pairs well with Prairie dropseed, Great blue lobelia, and Greig's tulip.
