Notes

'Sonoma Amethyst' peony (Paeonia 'Sonoma Amethyst') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Irene Tolomeo bred it, and the fragrant, deep lavender flowers have more than 20 petals. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Strong stems hold the blooms up well.

Pairs well with Golden Tiara hosta, Phantom panicle hydrangea, Blonde Ambition blue grama, and Queen of Night tulip.
