Notes
'Sonora' black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta 'Sonora') is an annual for borders, cut flowers, pollinator gardens, and containers. This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows fast and reaches 12 to 24 inches tall. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the blooms. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. The plant is drought tolerant and salt tolerant.
Pairs well with Gentian sage, Black-eyed Susan, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
