Notes

'Sparkles' peony (Paeonia 'Sparkles') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its fragrant, semi-double dark red flowers have incurved petals, and the stiff, upright stems stay medium in height. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Lyman D. Glasscock bred it.

Pairs well with June hosta, Standing Ovation little bluestem, Polish Spirit clematis, and Carlton daffodil.
