'Sparkling Star' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Sparkling Star') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It blooms in early to mid spring with bright dark pink single flowers. The color holds up better than most pinks. Strong stems carry the blooms about thirty inches high above bright green foliage.

Pairs well with Fire Island hosta, Prairie dropseed, and Picture tulip.
