Notes

'Spencer' peony (Paeonia 'Spencer') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. The fragrant, cranberry red flowers are semi-double, with one bud per stem. Peter Waltz bred it, and the stems are strong.

Pairs well with Empress Wu hosta, Spiked speedwell, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
