Notes

'Star of the East' montbretia (Crocosmia crocosmiiflora 'Star of the East') is a bulb for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Orange-red blooms open from early to late summer and have creamy yellow throats with burgundy freckles. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. Hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Red-hot poker, Purpurea Indian shot, and Ornamental onion.
