Notes

'Stars and Stripes' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Stars and Stripes') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Sue Anderson bred it, and its white flowers have red striping that makes each bloom look a little different. The slightly fragrant blooms open in mid to late spring and early summer. Plants reach 30 inches tall and stand up without support.

Pairs well with Wild geranium, Cinnamon fern, and Orange daylily.
