Notes

'Strathmore' gentian (Gentiana 'Strathmore') is a perennial for borders, containers, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It blooms in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. It is not a favorite of rabbits, though hungry rabbits will eat almost anything. Plants spread about 12 inches wide, so leave them room.

Pairs well with Dalmatian bellflower, Dr. Alexander Fleming peony, and Spanish bluebell.
