Notes

'Sumina-gashi' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Sumina-gashi') is a shrub for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The name means stream of Indian black, and the flowers have dark streaks. Tokio Nursery Co. introduced it in 1896.

Pairs well with Solomon's seal, Standing Ovation little bluestem, Pink Impression tulip, and Polish Spirit clematis.
