Notes
'Surprise Flash' peony (Paeonia 'Surprise Flash') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. The single 7 inch blooms are coral-pink and salmon-pink with deep pink streaks and flecks, and the upright stems need no support. Early foliage emerges burgundy and matures green.
Pairs well with Culver’s root, Blue Angel hosta, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Carlton daffodil.
