Notes

Tall thimbleweed (Anemone virginiana) is a perennial for borders, woodland gardens, meadows, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Greenish-white flowers have a center shaped like a short thimble. After frost, the thimble turns into a cottony tuft.

Pairs well with Eastern columbine, Nodding onion, and Western sword fern.
