Notes

'Tekapo Dew' peony (Paeonia 'Tekapo Dew') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Golden-yellow blooms with short red flares open in early to late spring. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Butterflies visit the flowers, and Derek Irvine bred it in 2001.

Pairs well with Big bluestem, Grape hyacinth, Ironweed, and Jackmanii clematis.
