Notes

'The Baron' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'The Baron') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The flowers are an odd shade of red with some yellow in the center. They have a bold Japanese type form. Edward Auten, Jr bred it.

Pairs well with First Frost hosta, David garden phlox, and Sensitive fern.
