Notes

'The Dragon' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'The Dragon') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large Japanese type flowers are aster purple, open in mid season, and sit high above the foliage. The plant is large and spreading, so give it room.

Pairs well with Black-eyed Susan, Hairy aster, Ostrich fern, and Picture tulip.
